Development and Reform Commission: the impact of rising international oil and gas prices on China is generally controllable

The price of crude oil and natural gas has risen further recently. "Due to the high proportion of crude oil and natural gas in China, it will certainly be affected, and the import cost will rise objectively, but on the whole, the impact is controllable." On March 7, Lian Weiliang, deputy director of the development and Reform Commission, said at the press conference of the state information office. China is a major energy consumer and producer, and its energy supply is generally guaranteed. According to him, China's crude oil and natural gas import sources have been diversified, and the proportion of long-term contracts is very high. As long as all parties fulfill the contract, the import can remain generally stable. At the same time, China is vigorously promoting the high-quality development of renewable energy and accelerating the implementation of renewable energy substitution. The rapid increase of clean energy will also effectively hedge and mitigate external impacts.

Despite the increasingly severe challenges we face, China has the conditions, ability, confidence and methods to ensure a safe and reliable supply of energy. This year, we will vigorously promote the construction of large-scale wind power photovoltaic bases focusing on deserts, Gobi and desert areas, and further strengthen energy reserves. At the same time, we will strive to ensure supply and stabilize prices and guide coal prices to remain within a reasonable range.
